What you may not know about me is that I used to be a bartender. I did not do it for very long nor do I consider myself a mixologist by any means. I mostly worked in the kind of bars where people ordered beers and simple mixed drinks. That does not mean I don't enjoy playing around a bit with my liquors, trying to come up with easy and satisfying pairings. I am actually not a big drinking anymore. Back in my younger years I can outdrink a many. That all stopped with my first baby. Obviously no drinking while pregnant and then while nursing I did not really drink too much. It was too much of a waste to "pump and dump" and would rather have just not had a drink at all. I kind of lost my interest except in the occasional drink, plus I could not hold my alcohol the same way. Give me one drink and I could already feel the effects. It was the same cycle with my baby Claire. I just recently stopped pumping and nursing and figured it was not time to be able to be able to start adding these drinks back in. I particularly enjoy wine the best, especially white. I love the sweetness of it and finds that it can be so refreshing. Now that it is so so so hot here in Georgia in the summer, I have been craving some refreshingly satisfying drinks. I like to try to keep my nutrition pretty clean so I did not want too much added sugars or unnecessary sweeteners. Give me something cool, crisp, and refreshing. I decided to try a wine slushie. I have been to wine shops that sell wine slushies. It is basically like a slurpee with wine. They can be good but I find them to be too sweet and strong. It tastes like a bunch of high fructose corn syrup added to some wine and ice. I won't call this refreshing. I have been making my own adding real fruit, white wine, and ice. That's it! It is cool and crisp. It is sweet but not strikingly sweet and does not have too much of a wine taste. I usually keep moscato in the house so this is the wine I choose. You can use whatever white wine you prefer. The sweeter the wine, the sweeter the drink. I also used frozen fruit rather than fresh. First, it is easier frozen with less clean up of the cutting supplies. Also, It is perfect for a cold icy drink. If you use fresh you need more ice. With frozen fruit it already acts a bit like ice. Refreshing, Fruity Wine Slushie (Yields 2 rocks glass size servings)
Blend and serve! You can garnish with a fresh strawberry or even a lime. There you go! Super quick, super easy, super delicious! You can substitute your fruit of choice. I actually do not eat mango but mixed with the wine and strawberry and it was very delicious! You can always use pineapple or orange if you prefer. Enjoy! Like this post? Read similar posts here:
