Recent Macy's Try-on

Recently I went into Macy's to do a try-on session.  I normally don't shop at Macy's mainly because I am a true Chicagoan and it really hurt when our beloved Marshall Fields was taken over by Macy's, however I swallowed my pride and went and shopped.  I was a bit overwhelmed.  It is a large department store with so many brands and so many choices that I wasn't sure where to begin.  I will have to go back for another trip! Here is a summary of my finds (commissioned links)

The first look is this jumpsuit by Eileen Fisher.  This jumpsuit is a definite splurge item but it is definitely worth it! The tencel fabric is so soft and flowy for summer, the cut is so flattering and I felt my confidence raise just by being in it.  I love the color and just find everything perfect about this. It would look great with a nice pair of heels or wedges.

Maybe you haven't heard but a Maxi-Romper is a new thing.  Its a mix of a romper with a long skirt attached.  It's the beautiful mullet of the clothing world.  From the back it is a beautiful maxi dress but from the front it is a fun romper.  I love this one by Kensie! The print is so pretty and tropical and perfect for summer but has such an elegant quality to it.  It fit snug on top so I would size up a size if you have any kind of chest.

I love this outfit! It is so super fun for work.  The patchwork detail is super cute on top and the fabric is actually thicker than I expected but very comfortable.  The pants were also very computer and super fun.  The pants are basically gaucho pants that are today called wide-leg cropped.  Regardless of what they are called, they are fun and I am liking the new-old trend.  I actually like the 2 different stripes together.  I don't find it to be too busy and makes the outfit extra fun for work.  Just because work may be boring doesn't mean your clothes have to as well!

When I picked up this dress to try on, I thought it was a dress, but it is actually a shirt.  Woooops.  When I tried it on I thought it was a bit short but then mini dresses are a popular thing these days so I figured that is what this was.  Well I am 5'6" so if you are shorter than me then this may actually work for you.  If you are like me or taller, then I would wear this with a legging or thick tight.  It is long enough to be a nice tunic and pair it with a nice tall boot or even bootie.  The print is super cute and has the perfect colors for fall!

I really love this fun denim dress! I actually posted this in a previous blog post but it is back again! The fun pompom trim on the bottom is what drew me to it but the fit is really nice and the fabric is super comfortable.  Denim is the kind of fabric that looks good on everyone so I am so glad that denim dresses are here and I hope they stay! Once the weather gets cooler a nice little cardigan and some booties would look awesome!

I am also very happy that denim skirts are becoming increasingly popular and they are also becoming super fun! I love the ruffles on this one.  I also love the length on this one. I've seen and tried on way too many too short denim skirts but this one has a nice flattering fit.  Also, this shirt is super fun! The embroidery on the arms of this peasant top is so pretty, the fun sleeves and the cute pink and white tassel ties is just all to cute! It also comes in black and I would take either one!

In the Levi's section you may be greeted by a fun rack of pastel jeans, each color prettier than the next.  I first picked up a pretty pink pair, but let's be honest I wear tons of pink and figured I would go out of my comfort zone (not really) with a yellow pair.  These are such a pretty color.  I have been more and more falling in love with yellow.  It is such a fun and bright color.  I'm not sure how anyone can feel unhappy wearing this color.  I then found this super adorable tank in a different section and just thought Perfect!!! I love the yellow sequin flower and the it is just a fun and happy tank  It fit great and just loved the whole combo together! The pants fit small.

Ok I just love the color of these jeans.  It is so unique.  They are technically a grey but they have a greenish tint to them.  This tee was just the perfect match for them.  They have a slight frayed hem and the distressed legs are also a super fun extra detail.  These would be perfect with some heels, wedges, or booties.  You could even do a nice flat, like a pointy toe.  I was very comfortable in this outfit.

Did you know that the brand William Rast is part owned by Justin Timberlake? I love him and of course would love everything from his line.  The frayed hem on these are super fun.  They are frayed a bit more than most I saw but I like them.  They are very different and would look awesome with a pair of heels on a night out with the girls or with your favorite guy.  I'm not a big wearer of plaid but if I was to start, I would definitely wear a pink one! You can't see the back but there was a fun little flowy detail in the back making it look a bit more feminine and fun.

When I posted this jacket on my facebook page, I got alot of positive response.  This whole outfit is by Free People.  First off, these jeans are actually leggings and do not have a zipper.  I ain't even mad about jeggings starting to gain some traction.  They are super comfortable and it's like your own little secret that they aren't actually jeans.  So go on girl, wear them jeggings!! This top isn't off the shoulder but it gets a bit low around the shoulders that was fun and different.  The fabric was very comfortable, a bit thicker and kept is staying in place.  I put this jacket over it and OMG OMG OMG!!! It is amazing!!! The frayed hems, the color, the ruffly bottom is just all so perfect.  This is THE PERFECT fall jacket.  Wear some nice tan boots or booties or black ones and you are set to go! It can be a splurge but this is the kind of item you want to splurge on!
