I love a skinny scarf or neckerchief. It is a really nice accessory to wear in place of a necklace. It is a very versatile accessory that can be worn a variety of ways. The problem is that not everyone knows how to wear it. I'm going to show you some of my favorite ways.
Tied around the neck
Some of the most well known ways to wear these scarves is by a simple tie around the neck. It is very French-esque and it is a very classic look that has been around for ages.
Every time I wear a neckerchief I want to go back to Paris. I love a colorful scarf or something pretty and floral. It adds such a fun extra touch that you don't get from a traditional necklace.
As a Neck Bow
I love bows. They are so feminine and pretty but I don't want to look like my 2 year old daughter when I wear a bow so I often will tie a bow with a skinny scarf. Lately I have been doing this around the neck. With a plain shirt or a plain dress I will take a scarf to add a pop of color or for a flirty, romantic feel.
As a ponytail bow
I don't really like the way a plain ponytail looks on my. Maybe it is the way my hair looks in general. It appears flat and bland so I like to look for something extra to accessorize with. Wrapping a cute scarf into a bow has added a special touch that turned my pony from boring to fun. Plus, the fact that my hair is flat and boring gets missed because the focus is on the adorable bow. Win! I can't necessarily fix the imperfections but what I can do is try to mask them anyway I can.
Scarves are the new way to take a purse from plain to fab. It can totally change the look of the purse. I love the look of a plain colored purse and adding a fun patterned scarf to give it a whole new face lift.
As a headband
A scarf as a headband is such a cute accessory. I usually will tie it a few different ways but it is great for when your hair down or when it is up. I like to wear it when my hair is up in a bit of a messy bun because, again, it hides the imperfections. It takes the focus away from the messy hair and brings the focus to the hair scarf. It adds a fun pop of color as well.
First way to tie it is to take a long scarf and let the long pieces hang. I love the flowiness of this look and is also great when your hair is down and styled and letting the ends of the scarf peek through.
Another great way is to use a shorter scarf and let the ends pop out on top. I usually prefer this way when my hair is down, but it looks like a little bow on top of your head and I love bows. Just a simple knot of the ends are all you need to do.
The last way I use the scarf is with a little twist. I take a longer skinny scarf, tie it once on top and then wrap it around again and tie it below. It has a more traditional headband look but still add the fun little pop of color and extra pizzazz.
Hope you enjoy scarfing!
