In Chicago, most of the items have to get shipped from elsewhere except the summer and early fall when the local farmers' produce is ready to be picked. Down here in Georgia there are farm fields everywhere filled with delicious produce. Savannah is less than 2 hours from the hub of onion fields, Vidalia. Pecan trees are abundant, peach and lemon trees are in many people's backyards, just a couple hours south in Florida you can find Oranges and pineapples a plenty and this is only the beginning. Now we have local berry season. Strawberries are probably our favorite fruit in the house outside of bananas. I love to eat them for dessert and my daughter asks for them daily when we have them in the house. We also enjoy to put them in smoothies. When I asked Aubrey if she wanted to go strawberry picking, the answer was a no brainer with a resounding YES. Except the muddy conditions from the rain storms we had a couple days prior, things were almost perfect. We went to Ottawa Farms in Bloomingdale, GA, about 20 minutes from our house in Savannah. It was a small family farm with very much a family feel. Things are a bit different now with the COVID-19 pandemic so there some fun events on the farm that was closed off, limited amount of things that were allowed to be brought like the bag I needed for baby items, and lots and lots of handwashing was needed prior to being given a bucket. With these inconveniences aside, it was a great experience. Aubrey really loved finding the red strawberries to put in her basket. It was like a scavenger hunt for the best berries. At the end of our picking, we enjoyed the most delicious strawberry soft serve ice cream that tasted delicious and fresh. It had the best taste of real strawberry rather than the fake, overwhelming taste of fake pink store bought ice cream. I'm glad I wore my sneakers with the mud being abundant. It was such an amazing time and a tradition I would love to do with the kids every year. It is definitely spring in the air and the summer weather is becoming evident down here. With the temps the last couple of days being in the 90s, it has been a preview of what we will be experiencing in the next month or so. On other days when it isn't 90 degrees or hotter, sometimes a nice spring sweater is the perfect item. I found this adorable vintage sweater on Etsy and just obsessed! The crochet details are just darling with such pretty buttons. It is perfect to wear alone with a skirt like I wore or with a pair of ankle jeans. It adds that extra dainty touch. It would also be great unbuttoned over a cute sundress. I will be getting my wear in this for the season and even through the fall and winter. There is something so charming about anything crocheted or knitted. My mom knits and my grandma was always a crocheter. I saw all the work and love put into every project. These kind of items bring me such joy and comfort. If something is unique and one of a kind, it makes my interest in it heightened. That's why when I saw this sweater I immediately had to have it. Even though I can't find this sweater anywhere else, I have added my favorite crochet finds
