I am not one to shy away from color. Especially in the summer, you will find my wardrobe full of colorful pieces, even pieces that incorporate the rainbow. Now and then it feels good to just go with a basic pairing of black on black.
Back in my younger years, you would find me mostly wearing black pieces. Not because it was my color of choice but because it was easy. Black is a very easy color to pair. You can pair pretty much any color with a black top or a pair of black pants and it works. I even chose black shoes and purses over brown because of its easy. I have grown up a bit since then and learned a bit about color and pattern combinations to know that other colors are an easy pairing as well. Basic black is an important color and combination in any wardrobe. Here are a few of my favorite reasons why I still love black:

I recently found this top from Jcrew. The linen makes it perfect for summer and has the cutest little bows on the shoulders. The best part is you can wear your regular undergarments underneath without an issue.
I paired it with a pair of Halogen pants that are probably about 10 years old. Black pants are a classic item. It will always be in style. I love how this black on black mixing looks like a jumpsuit, but makes those bathroom trips a little bit easier! haha My pants are no longer available since they are so old, but I did find a similar pair from Mango. I love that there is a comfortable width in the leg. I couldn't go without adding a bit of color so I added a pair of blush heels with a cute bow toe. I can't resist a cute bow. I found very similar shoes by Ted Baker as mine are also oldies but goodies. This is the kind of outfit that is perfect for a night out to dinner and some drinks at night but wear it during the day with a cute blazer on top.
