1/31/2019 0 Comments A plaid, girly flannel findIf this is your first blog post of mine that you are reading, welcome! But what I want you to know is that I recently have developed a passion for plaid. Maybe it is me quickly approaching my mid-30s that my style has been evolving a bit. I am still all about the color but I have grown a love for nice basics, great layering neutrals, comfortable fashion, and a preppier undertone. I guess it has evolved from finding pieces that were great for going out that are now great for wearing to work OR wearing out OR running errands. I realize the benefit of spending a little bit more on quality items that last rather than a bunch of just cheap pieces in quantity. Quality vs Quantity has been my new game. I am liking more transitional and versatile pieces. So with that I have been liking the transitional and versatility of plaid tops. ![]() JCrew Factory plaid top I Similar Loft Outlet jeans I Target red flats Plaid can bring with it alot of color. I have seen plaid tops in tons of patterns and colors. I have been wearing plaid in so many different ways. I will layer it under a sweater so that a little pop of color and pattern peeks through. I layer it under a cardigan so that alot of pattern and color peeks through. It is great under jackets. I love them alone with a cute statement necklace or wear them unbuttoned over a cute tee. I like to keep different ones stocked in my closet in various patterns, colors, and fabrics so that I can have many options to match any outfit. This shirt in particular has a great little ruffle in the front making it look feminine and pretty. It has a nice flowy feel as it does not button down all the way. I think this is great with a pair of jeans or chinos. My one concern with plaid alone has always been that it sometimes has that farmer or masculine feel which is different than my normal style. The adorable ruffles give it that feminine feel. My Sweater is from Target but not available. I found a similar one from Venus.
I recently paired this top with a cardigan. I really like it with a cardigan over it because it breaks up the plaid a bit but you can still see the ruffle of the top. This top is a thicker fabric but when the weather is in the single digits with a windchill below zero, layering is a mus! Putting a nice sweater cardigan on keeps feel nice and warm when I am working and going from visit to visit. Happy Shopping!
