Shein dress I Shoes are older from Target but found similar ones (Steve Madden Here), (Steve Madden Here), (Aquatalia Here) I Amazon Earrings I Bag is from an antique store
There is something so charming about not only the south but about Savannah. Before I moved here when I thought of Savannah I thought of antique, historic, plantations, rich, character and charm. When I visited I realized how spot on this was. In Chicago, there are some buildings and homes that are older and have some charm especially some of the bungalow style and grey stone homes we are known for. The thing with that though is that there is so much gentrification that many of the old is surrounded by new and modern or the inside of the old homes are made to look modern in the inside. Alot of the charm and character has been replaced. What I love about Savannah and many of the parts of the south that I have seen, this character has not been lost. It is in the trees. It is in the preserved homes. It is in the parks. It is outlining every street.
We have made a couple visits to the Savannah Botanical Gardens. The gardens is a free garden where you can walk around and see everything from a rose garden to an herb garden (which definitely has the aroma). There is also this old, beautiful home called the Reinhard House which was moved to the gardens to escape demolition. It was built in 1840 and is used as a home for clubs and the headquarters for the Savannah Area Council of Garden Clubs. The garden itself is available for weddings and events. The garden itself is but a dream with flowers I would love to have in a yard someday.
For our latest walk through the garden I decided to go with this flowy, floral Shein dress with a vintage bag. Not only is it perfect for my baby bump as it masks it very well. The dress is extremely comfortable. I feel like I am wearing pajamas when I am in it. The sleeves are perfect to transition into fall plus the color is so cute for summer but will also fit in well with the pretty colorful leaves. It is nice and bright but yet still neutral to match with many different colors. I paired it with some brown shoes and accessories but it would be great with red or even a neutral green, like an olive. The subtle floral print is so feminine but not too over the top.
The bag is one of my favorite purses, mainly because of how unique it is. I found it in an antique store. Yes, there is some wear and tear but that is what gives it such character. The leather is still in great shape and the top enclosure is the prettiest amber stone and the cutest square shape. For me, the old antique feeling fits in so well with the old historic surroundings. I love antique and thrift shopping to find those unique pieces. If something can feel and look so old but yet still be in great shape then it must be made so well. I also love the fact that theres only a limited amount of people that have the same bag as me.
My shoes were clearance finds from Target about a year ago. They are great transitional shoes. They are open toe and backless like a sandal but the strap is large and with the heel it has a bootie feeling. These are no longer available but I found almost identical pair by Aquatalia at Nordstrom. The best part about a block heel is how comfortable and supportive the heel is. I was able to walk around the garden without having the pain of a regular heel. It is especially perfect for this waddling, unstable pregnant lady!
To keep the look subtle, I added these neutral colored rattan straw earrings from Amazon. They are the perfect summer earrings and less than $9! They are very sturdy for the price and just can't be beat. They are large enough to make a statement but super lightweight and almost unnoticeable.
If you live in or are every visiting Savannah, you must check out the Savannah Botanic Garden. Not only is it free but it is such a pretty place that will give you major old, southern vibes. It is beautiful to walk through, will give you some garden inspiration, and even has a cute little area for kids to enjoy. If you are like me, you will get lost in the beauty and start daydreaming about your perfect plantation home and garden.
