Baby feeding time can definitely be a trying time. It can be messy. It can be frustrating if your baby is a picky eater like mine is. It can be exhausting if you are making your own food or expensive if you aren't. Today I want to share some of my favorite items I use for baby eating.
1. Silicone bib
I love a silicone bib. It helps make clean up easier at it catches alot of the food droppings in the pocket. It is super easy to clean. You can just wipe it up or even stick it in the dishwasher. I found a great one from Amazon. They come in beautiful, soft, classic colors and patterns. They don't absorb water and don't stain.
2. Baby food steamer
I love using our Magic Bullet food steamer. It has made food time so much quicker. It takes just minutes to make things like peas, carrots, sweet potato, etc. It is SO much quicker than steaming on the stove or cooking in a toaster oven. Food cooks evenly. It will also sterilize, defrost, and cook eggs. It comes with it's own little measuring cup as well. It really just comes with everything except the food!
3. Food masher
A food masher might be the most used item for baby outside of a spoon. I use this for everything! I mash things like bananas, soft fruits, noodles, softened veggies, etc. It is great for 1-2 servings and comes with a lid for next day feedings if baby does not eat it all. It is much less mess than a food processor and makes it easy to feed baby the same foods that we are eating from the table.
4. Baby spoons
Believe it or not, these simple Playtex spoons are my favorite I have tried. They are so comfortable for me to hold, have a great size spoon to fit in baby's mouth, and holds the food so nicely that it doesn't fall out like alot of spoons I have tried. I have had these spoons since I was feeding Aubrey who is about to be 4 yrs old. They are the ones I continue to grab for the most.
I had to include this travel spoon. My biggest frustration is going to restaurants and not having a baby spoon for feeding time. This spoon I would put in the diaper bag and keep it there so I would not forget it. It comes in a little case to keep it clean in between. 5. Fresh food feeder
These fresh food feeders are another staple we used with Aubrey and are using now with Claire. They make food feeding so easy because you can put whole food inside for baby to suck on and slowly get the food out. It is great as a teether too. We put frozen fruits inside so the nice cold fruits are great for sore baby gums.
6. Food cups
Food storage cups are always used in our home. They were great for storing homemade pureed foods or even to store little snacks like crackers, puffs, or fruits. They are dishwasher and freezer safe. These cups have cute little stacking abilities as well plus I love the colors!
7. Cookbook
I had this cookbook for Aubrey and use it now for Claire. It is full of great recipes. Baby food does not have to be bland or boring. It is great for new moms and beginners to give an idea of how to make food. It has alot of great basics such as how to make a homemade cheese. Everything is super easy and makes an adequate amount of food to last a few days. It is especially great for those picky babies. There is more than just puree recipes. There are recipes for later stages as well.
