A basic crewneck sweater pretty much fills up my closet during the cold weather months. I have them in several colors making my sweaters look like a rainbow of crewnecks. They are the perfect layering or matching piece with just about everything. You can wear them over collared shirts or under blazers. I often wear them alone with a skirt or pair of dress pants. Just tweaking the color can add a big difference to a piece. I recently posted a similar outfit HERE. Take for instance below where I have worn this skirt before:
I also love to add a long necklace or a scarf to a basic crewneck to add a pop of something fun. It is a great option if I am pairing with a pair of jeans or pair of dress pants. They are a classic piece that will last you for years and will always have a place or purpose to wear them. These sweaters are ones that are continue to be available at some of my favorite shops every year. I continue to see the same ones at JCrew, Banana Republic, Macy’s and JCrew Factory every year. The design pretty much stays the same with the only difference being some new colors or tweaks of past colors being available.
I have rounded up below some of the best simple, crewneck sweaters for your classic closet. They come in various price points and various fabrics. Fabrics make a difference. I often purchase ones that are cashmere or a merino wool. I get itchy and sensitive to regular wool. Silk blend ones are also a great option as they are often very soft with a beautiful drape. I look for the more natural fabrics over a polyester. They tend to last longer, wear nicer, and has a better quality and fit.
