Happy Tuesday!! How has everyone’s new year been? I feel like it has been pretty mixed. It ended sad with the death of Betty White, and then the complete shocker of the death of Bob Saget. The weather has been crazy with places getting tons of snow, fires in Philly and New York. The news of Covid and Omicron continues to be everywhere. Can we catch a break??
The weather has been very moody down here. It was a beautiful, spring like day on Sunday where we were able to go outside downtown, walk around with some drinks and take the kids to the playground. The rest of the week it will be pretty cool.and wintery. It really is unexpected.
What I’ve Been Watching:
I haven’t been able to watch too much tv over the past couple of weeks. Aubrey has been staying in my room with me while we had company in town so my bedtime has pretty much been the same time as Aubrey. I have finally been catching up on TV.
I have finally caught up on …And Just Like That. It really is pushing the limit but I feel very conflicted. If you haven’t watched yet or heard then scroll down past this paragraph because spoiler alert….we are all grieving Mr. Big dying. However, I know it is a show and Chris Noth is very much alive. We may be grieving his character flaws with some of the recent allegations coming out but we know the character died, not the person. We do know, however, that Willie Garson, who plays Stanford, has died in real life. Due to this the exit of the character was very anti-climactic. He moved to Japan and wants a divorce from Anthony. It was a quick 5 minutes addressing the departure when in real life it is for a very sad reason. Granted, I’m not sure the show can handle two deaths even if one was planned and one was unplanned. I still felt left without any kind of closure. Anyone else feel the same way????
I started watching Emily in Paris season 2. Season 1 was great and I was anxious for season 2 and to start watching it. I still have 3 episodes left but so far I am conflicted. Do I want Emily to end up with Gabriel because of the fire and passion between them or do I want her to walk away and start something with the cutie Alfie. I know that Camille has every reason to be mad at Emily for sleeping with her boyfriend, but the pact was clearly meant to just keep her away from Gabriel. Oh the drama and passion. I love it. I am sad I am almost at the end….
We started watching the Apple TV limited series Defending Jacob. This is almost 2 years old but I can’t believe I never heard of it. We watched two episodes as of the time of me writing this and I loved it. It stars Chris Evans as an Assistant DA whose son is arrested and being charged for murder. I am about to say something that is NOT a spoiler. It basically sets itself up as you knowing Jacob, Chris Evans’ son did NOT do the killing. There are a couple other people that are set up as possibilities to the audience but the who as of yet has not been told. We just know Jacob did not murder the boy.
The story itself was good although there are some things that my husband kept getting mad about with him being a former cop. Chris Evans, who again plays an Assistant DA was originally assigned to the murder case until the evidence points to his son Jacob. He is then removed from the case. Before the removal, he was doing things that normally the detectives do. I understand prosecutors can collect evidence but I don’t believe it is very typical. It is usually left to the detectives to do the witness and suspect interviewing, I don’t see prosecutors at the scene of the crimes when it is first called in. I see them working more behind the scenes and with the detectives rather than in place of the detectives. Chris Evans’ character did alot of the interviewing and evidence collecting himself. It did not make much sense to me. I would still very much recommend the show and get past that kind of detail.
