Can you believe that 2020 is here already? I know that I cannot believe it – time really is flying by. So I recently posted a look back in my 2019 and shared what my goals are for 2020. I wnted to go further and help motivate you to accomplish your goals in 2020. Each year, most of us set goals and after the first week or two, they start to look a little less attractive to keep up with because setting goals requires you to spend time on them doing things that most of us really do not want to spend time doing. For example, working out. A lot of us want to start a workout plan each new year, but then they fail to go once and it’s all over for them. This year, let’s aim to break that cycle and actually aim to accomplish your goals in 2020. If you think that you might struggle with this, I have a few tips for you. Here are a few ways that you can actually accomplish your goals in 2020:
Set Goals That Motivate You
My first tip is to set goals that actually motivate you. Sure, maybe you set the same goal of losing weight every single year, or eating healthy, but if you are not actually determined to make your goals happen, it will be really challenging to actually see them through. For example, my friend’s dad has an awful case of psoriasis. He says that he wants to find something that will help him feel better, but when it comes to actually taking action, he skips out on things that might help him just because he would have to do something (such as drinking celery juice) that he would rather not do. This is just a small example of how most of us are. When we set goals to lose weight and/or to eat healthier options in the New Year, a lot of us really do not follow through because it’s just not as convenient as eating whatever we want to, or we slip up and do not get back in the game. If you set goals that actually get you closer to something that you really want – to something that really motivates you, it’s a lot easier to follow through, especially over time.
Make A Plan
Setting goals that motivate you is not enough, though. Even if you are so motivated to make things happen for yourself, it is definitely not enough for most of us. Creating a game plan to make sure that you achieve your goals is a great way to make sure that you accomplish your goals in 2020. I have a few tips to help make your plan a success. First of all, create steps for yourself. So, take one goal at a time and make individual plans. In each individual plan, you are going to want to create small goals to lead up to that one big goal. For example, if you have a goal to lose 15 pounds in 2020, create small 5 pound goals along the way. Celebrate each goal and then when you hit your big goal, you need to REALLY celebrate. This has worked for me in the past, this is what I have been doing this time around and I know it can work for you!
Another great example of this that a friend of mine is wanting to do is to simplify her life and home. The reason you need a plan for this is because you cannot just snap your fingers and have a simplified life – it takes work. In order for her to simplify her life and live minimalistically, she needed to create a game plan to take it step by step. Her first step was to declutter by selling and/or giving away the things that she does not need. She found Chapes-JPL, located in the Buckhead area of Atlanta and they say, “we buy jewelry Atlanta.” She took her old jewelry that was creating clutter within her bathroom and sold it to them. Apparently they buy valuables such as gold, jewelry, diamonds, etc. and also give asset loans for them, as well, if you do not want to completely get rid of the valuables. They have been in business for over 40 years and have super low interest rates, which is fantastic! You only need three minutes in their private financial offices and you will discover how simple, safe, and satisfying your borrowing experience can be if you opt for a collateral loan from Chapes-JPL.
Don’t Be Too Hard On Yourself
Giving yourself grace during this process of setting and accomplishing your goals in 2020, (as well as in your everyday life) is very important. We are far from perfect – it is natural to mess up and if you do, it is okay, you just have to get back on your horse. According to Psychology Today, “Grace is about acceptance, forgiveness, love and as hard and bitter as this is to swallow, it heals you unlike anything else. There is no magic formula, but those who are open to the possibility of it occurring and those who practice self- compassion will tell you that grace begins to mold together the fractures. Grace evaporates fear. And fear is often what lines the hearts and minds of the bereaved.” If you mess up, accept it, move on, and start fresh the next day. Give yourself grace and do not be too hard on yourself.
Happy New Year! I really hope that you shoot for the stars this year and really try to accomplish your goals in 2020 – you’ve got this!
